Emily Van Horne
I have been working at Halifax Veterinary Hospital since 2017. I began working here after I graduated from Dalhousie Agricultural College. As a kid I was fascinated with animals, all I wanted to do was bring them home and take care of them. My first actual experience working with animals was at Hope for Wildlife, where I volunteered as a teenager. During this experience, I had the opportunity to work with many amazing veterinary technicians who inspired me with their drive, compassion and selflessness. I knew that this is what I wanted to do. I have been happy with my decision ever since! The area of veterinary medicine that interests me the most is lab work. The part of my job that I love the most is providing nursing care for animals, and helping them feel comfortable while in the hospital. I also love the team I work with! A fun fact about me is that I love music and spend a lot of free time playing the guitar.
